The emergence of market relations in the Armenian economy caused diversification of the cultural production, as well as new private cultural institutions and enterprises, fast spread of electronic media and the Internet. It was due to these trends, that professions dealing with distribution of art production, exhibition, circulation and storage, cultural events and art interpretation, art history and theoretical studies, had a growing demand.

The school is to respond to these emerging needs shaped within the developing cultural economy of Armenia. Courses are designed for young professionals who have higher or incomplete higher education in the fields of humanities and social sciences. The course now consists of three educational units: History and Theory of Art; Art Criticism and Cultural Studies; Job of Exhibition and Art Management. In addition to theoretical knowledge, students also have the opportunity to get practically involved in the relevant fields of the local art economy.
