Across 40 minutes, the performance moves beyond linear productivity, unfolding a space where voices, gestures, and testimonies can gather and linger with the lived politics of exhaustion. The performance grows from conversations with art and cultural workers about exhaustion, alongside personal reflections, interwoven with fragments from articles, books, and other sources.

During the artist talk, Ari will present “The Exhausted,” a research project developed in parallel with the performance “Wear Me Out.” “The Exhausted” consists of a series of audio conversations with cultural and art workers, exploring how capitalism shapes bodily experiences. Drawing on these exchanges, the project is interested in how narratives of exhaustion emerge across various local contexts. During their time in Yerevan, Ari held a series of conversations with local cultural and art workers, focusing on lived experiences of exhaustion.

—-

Ari David (they/them), born in Romania, is currently based in Rotterdam. In their work, Ari explores how the social is inscribed in the body, focusing on themes of collectivity and dissent. Their interdisciplinary work includes writing, video, sound, textiles, and performance, emphasising gestures and the choreographies of everyday life to reflect on how bodies are shaped in Western society.

For more information, please visit https://aridavid.net

This work was produced with the financial assistance of the European Union.
