Manifesting themselves on semantic, aesthetic, and psychological levels, these qualities\u2014precision, plasticity, and vitality &#8211; allow the artist not only to articulate what he wishes to express, but also to discover the pitch and tonal register appropriate to that expression. At the same time, the deployment of these qualities serves more than a purely personal purpose.
