For us, education, science, and production are interconnected and organized as one global process. The ICA School, the Project and Research Labs, the exhibition hall and the library, the studios, and the Nest Art Residency all aim at contributing to the development of the art economy in Armenia by implementing various programs, providing technical facilities and training for artists, art critics, and curators, while producing researches at the crossroads of art, culture, humanities and social sciences, as well as designing art collections, exhibitions, and creative platforms. Relying on the context-sensitive and context-creating nature of contemporary art, the ICA team plays the role of a conveyor, seeking to share the power of art to bring about change not only in the field of art but also in solving the social, cultural, and political issues faced by Armenia. ) [1] => Array ( [node_id] => 3 [node_parent] => 0 [node_url] => 3 [node_level] => 0 [node_visible] => 1 [node_num] => 12 [node_template] => simple [node_creation_date] => 2022-03-14 23:22:20 [node_modify_date] => 2023-01-30 12:06:44 [node_user] => 1 [node_clicks] => 0 [node_published] => 0 [node_constant] => 1 [nl_node] => 3 [nl_lang] => 1 [nl_title] => Contacts [nl_description] => 47 Avet Avetisyan St, Yerevan, Armenia +374 33 270210 [email protected] Instagram: icayerevan Facebook: icayerevan LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/institute-for-contemporary-art-yerevan ) [2] => Array ( [node_id] => 4 [node_parent] => 0 [node_url] => school [node_level] => 0 [node_visible] => 1 [node_num] => 11 [node_template] => simple [node_creation_date] => 2022-03-14 23:23:23 [node_modify_date] => 2023-03-05 16:08:09 [node_user] => 1 [node_clicks] => 0 [node_published] => 0 [node_constant] => 1 [nl_node] => 4 [nl_lang] => 1 [nl_title] => School [nl_description] => The Critical and Curatorial Studies School offers the students an opportunity to get a hands-on/learn by doing’ knowledge and experience in the main philosophical, political, critical and art theories. Hit the road to the villages! Things may seem unclear from a distance, so come closer and explore the 18 villages of the Ijevan community, where colorful ceramic tiles bring local stories into focus.

Ijevan - If you are looking for agate, you have come to the right place. Mayilyan / handmade and hiking is a company promoting the crafting of agate stone.

Ijevan - What do you see in this ornament? If you're curious to explore it, VANI Art Studio aims to expand knowledge of Armenian ornaments and incorporate them into everyday life.

Ijevan - Don’t forget to gaze at the stars at night. Astro Tour offers a variety of tours with telescopes and many other unique experiences.

Ijevan - For a Shulal carpet, follow the thread. Telik Studio organizes rug weaving courses for women and girls in the Ijevan community.

Yenokavan  - A hospitable village with a thousand-and-one plants and a thousand-and-one tourists. Yenokavan, known for its mountain flora, has become a popular destination for nature lovers.

N.Tsaghkavan - The plaster slaps and the flower blooms. Several families in Tsaghkavan have been plasterers for generations, and the village is surrounded by beautiful nature and flowers—hence the name “Tsaghkavan,” which means “Village of Flowers.”

Ditavan - Look up to the mountaintop to see the rock that protects Ditavan. If you want to take a closer look, ask the villagers for directions and follow the trail.

Berkaber  - Here, even the extreme is peaceful. Villagers from Berkaber often sit here and chat while gazing at the horizon. This little beach remains peaceful despite the border being on the other side of the water reservoir.

Kirants - We have laid down roots since the 4th century. Borders may shift with politics, but families have long been anchored here, just like the beautiful tree in the center of Kirants.

Lusahovit - The queen came here and was stunned. What about you? Legend has it that Queen Tamar of Georgia once visited the village and was awestruck by its beauty.

Sevkar  - May the power of the rock protect us. Once, I saw someone from Sevkar, and that’s why I love this village. This saying was shared by a resident of Sevkar and is attributed to the ashugh Jivani. The villagers still maintain strong ties with their community even when they leave it. Far from the village, yet close to it.

Acharkut - “Our heart is in the forest,” say the villagers of Acharkut. Turn your head 360°—you’re surrounded by trees. The villagers lived in the woods before moving closer to the road, but they haven’t forgotten all the paths to return.

Sarigyugh - All roads start at the Chinar tree. The inhabitants of Sarigyugh used to seek good luck from the tree before traveling or making important decisions. Ask for directions!

Khashtarak - Armenian Hollywood. Many filmmakers have found Khashtarak to be the perfect backdrop for their stories: The Waters Are Rising (Moko Hakopyan, 1962), We Are Our Mountains (Henrik Malyan, 1969), Monument (Albert Mkrtchyan, 1972), and Men (Edmond Keosayan, 1973).

Vazashen - If you haven't ridden the swing, you've never truly experienced joy. Come to Vazashen in July during Vardavar, when villagers hang swings from the branches of trees and have fun.

Lusadzor - Light entered Khavaradzor (Dark Valley) and turned it into Lusadzor (Luminous Valley) When the village electrician, Andranik Antonyan, installed electricity in the 1930s, the village once known as Khavaradzor (Dark Valley) was transformed into Lusadzor (Luminous Valley).

Aknaghbyur - Here, figs hold the secrets of the sun. The location of Aknaghbyur ensures the fruit ripens perfectly. At the end of summer, you’ll be invited into every garden to taste the many nuances of fig varieties.

Aygehovit -  Life flows from grape juice. Aygehovit is known for its grapes and the orchards that surround the village.

Getahovit - Have you ever met arm-wrestling champions? The people of Getahovit are known for their athleticism, especially in arm wrestling. If you're up for the challenge, come and show your strength.

Azatamut - A Collective Center of Cultures. In the past, people from surrounding villages came to work at the Bentonite factory. With its buildings, football teams, and lack of gardens, Azatamut doesn't resemble any other village. People say it's like a small city where cultures from different places coexist.

Gandzakar - A piece of paradise amidst majestic mountains. If you have any doubts, take a walk through Gandzakar and see for yourself. Don’t forget to taste the local beans, famous throughout the region.

Achajur - Road of water, road of life. The Achajur bridge was constructed in 1931 as a vital part of the village irrigation system, bringing water from the Aghstev River to the village gardens.

These signboards were created within the EU4Culture Network Festival: City Stories, Diverse Voices – TRACES implemented in August- September 2024 by the Goethe-Institut in cooperation with the Institute for Contemporary Art Yerevan and the Ijevan Municipality.
